Madonna apologised after calling out a fan for sitting down at her concert. The Queen of Pop was performing a five-night run at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles for her Celebration Tour when the incident took place.

In the video posted on X on Mar 10, the 65-year-old singer can be seen saying: “What are you doing sitting down over there? What are you doing sitting down?”

As she walked closer to the audience, she realised the audience member was in a wheelchair, and said: “Oh, okay. Politically incorrect, sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here. Oh my god.”

Since the video went viral, Madonna has been under fire for her remarks, with some people pointedly asking what was wrong with sitting down at a concert.

User @Across3Horizons wrote: â€śDoes it matter if they’re sitting or standing? they paid for the ticket and took the time to be there? Isn’t that enough???”

Another user @TalkerReel92 wrote: “Ok you shouldn't be calling people out for sitting down anyways. She's not the queen of England. Some people are tired or have conditions where they need to sit. You want them to leave altogether?”

The video had also garnered over 3.5 million views on TikTok, at the time of writing.

TikTok user @east212 wrote that Madonna did not “apologise enough”, while @shuni80 wrote: “Maam, there are 100 reasons why someone might sit and all of them are valid”.

The Celebration Tour, which began in October 2023, will wrap up on Apr 26 in Mexico City.
