Kick off the New Year with 12 young adults (aged 15-21) vying for their showbiz dreams in this singing contest. How far they’ll go depends on how they impress the judges, including the legendary KS Chitra, classical musician  Muralikrishnan Rangan and homegrown rapper Yung Raja. With Nirmala Narasimhan and Elamaran Natarajan as the contestants’ mentors and Jaynesh as host.

Michelle Yeoh stars in this eight-part all-Asian series as a matriarch with gangster ties. (Is the title a nod to Yeoh’s 1997 historic drama The Soong Sisters?) And when her old enemies come knocking on her door, "Mama" Sun has to step up to defend her family.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

This animated adaptation of the Nintendo classic video game stars Chris Pratt and Charlie Day as sibling plumbers Mario and Luigi, who are transported to a magic new world while fixing a water main. This is the 10th animated film in history to gross US$1 billion (S$ 1.32 bil) worldwide; other inductees of the eight-digit club include Frozen, Despicable Me 3 and Zootopia.
